Why does Instagram remove line breaks?
Two quirks cause the dreaded caption collapse. First, if a line ends with a trailing space — easy to type without noticing — Instagram silently eats the line break that follows it. Second, Instagram often collapses runs of empty lines into nothing, gluing your paragraphs together. The result: the carefully spaced caption you wrote becomes one dense block.
This tool fixes both. It strips invisible trailing whitespace from every line, then places an invisible Unicode character (a blank braille symbol, U+2800) on each empty line so Instagram treats it as a "real" line and keeps your spacing.
How to add line breaks to your Instagram caption
- Write or paste your caption in the left box, with blank lines wherever you want space.
- Tap Copy caption — the formatted version is copied automatically.
- Paste it into Instagram (caption, bio, or comment) and post. The spacing holds.
Caption spacing tips that go beyond line breaks
- Hook above the fold. Only ~125 characters show before "… more" — put the line that earns the tap first. Check yours with the character counter.
- Separate the hashtags. Drop your hashtags below a few blank lines so they don't clutter the caption. Mind the new limits — see the hashtag counter.
- Short paragraphs win. One to two sentences per block reads better on a phone screen than prose paragraphs.
